Vintage Knitwear

Hello Vintage Lovers.

One of the main trends I noticed during London and Paris fashion weeks was the oversized Cardigan as the new cover up.
It may seem like cardigans are unglamorous but many a fab Granddad style cardigan were spotted on both the Prada and Ashish catwalks.  Even Alexa Chung and Victoria Beckham have been spotted with Cardigans draped (oh so elegantly!) over their shoulders.  They are the perfect tran-seasonal cover up as the winter nights  draw in.
Chloe, Topshop, J Crew and Urban Outfitters do some great knits. Alternatively try Rokit for some lovely vintage beauties.

Two of my fave versions of the Oversized Grandad cardigan look: Rachel Bilson and Nicole Richie.

At London Fashion week I spotted an absolutely fabulous new knitwear designer called Laura Theiss.
All the yarn for her knitwear comes from Italy.

To Liven up that Cardigan some kitsch accessories are needed. When in doubt I always look to Samaya Ling for fantastic vintage pieces from  Chanel, Dior to Ozzie Clark.  She does some amazing stands at  vintage fairs such as Frock Me (Chelsea Town Hall) Hammersmith Town hall and the Hilton Olympia.  Check out her website www.samayalingvintage.com All  your buys comes in a lovely packaged  pink tissue paper!  Check out  pictures of her stand below!

Happy vintage hunting

Paris Fashion Week Street Style SS11

Hello Fashionistas!
Now I don’t mean to be biased but…. I adore Paris Fashion week, it was awash with Cool, Quirky and fab-tastic people! I was very fortunate (thanks to the hard work and late nights of the Componere team) to attend some top shows; such as Barbara Bui, Issey Miyake and (swoon!) the grand priestess herself Vivienne Westwood!

It was so hard to choose from all the fantastically fabulous people, but here are my top favourites!

Tres Bien Vintage

Hello and welcome to the latest and exciting addition to Componere Magazine, Tres Bien Vintage.  Reporting back to you with all the latest vintage inspired styles that are currently hitting the catwalks. I shall also be updating you of all the fabulous vintage shops and finds across the country in the next issue of Componere .

We shall go on a vintage voyage! Checking out garments from different decades where clothing and people were Oh so-glam! While some may think vintage is old and handy me- downish its, quite the opposite.  Design houses often  search their archives for by gone pieces and fabrics to help create new collections. Many people (like me) look for vintage clothing to embrace  their inner goddess. Speaking of glamour, nobody epitomizes glamour more than Grace Kelly. I would highly recommend a visit to the Grace Kelly Exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.  It is a definite must see!  The exhibition runs until the 26th September 2010.

The Biggest Vintage Inspired style to hit the catwalk this season is the classic Aviator Jacket.

The leader of this trend on the runway was Burberry, Christopher Bailey caused a catwalk storm by featuring nine aviator jackets in it’s a/w 2010 show. Although aviator jackets were also presented by DKNY,  Francesco Scognamiglio, Adam, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Julien Macdonald.  Isabel Marant and Paul and Joe have also followed suit.

Girls Aloud singer Nicola Roberts was spotted leaving the GMTV studio’s  after her appearance on the morning show wearing an aviator jacket with aviator sunglasses.

However this trend doesn’t come cheap. An aviator jacket from Topshop cost £395 and from Burberry £2,395  However if you look around you can find some amazing ones in vintage shops, Charity shops and Vintage fares.

Will keep you all posted soon xxxx
